We invite farmers, agronomists, crop consultants, industry representatives, researchers, educators, and other agricultural stakeholders to participate in this short survey and help inform future research, extension, and stewardship efforts related to mesotrione use in emerging HPPD-tolerant soybean systems.
Your input will provide valuable insights into stakeholder perspectives and anticipated use patterns, helping us identify opportunities and challenges before this technology reaches the marketplace. Please also consider sharing this short survey with your professional networks and colleagues. The broader the participation, the more representative the results will be, ultimately strengthening our ability to develop research-based recommendations and stewardship strategies that serve the agricultural community.
Survey Objective
This survey aims to understand awareness, perceptions, and anticipated use patterns of Vyconic™ soybean technology, with a focus on mesotrione stewardship. Vyconic™ soybean technology is being developed by Bayer Crop Science to tolerate the HPPD-inhibiting herbicide mesotrione applied pre- and post-emergence and is expected to be commercially available in the coming years (2027-2028)*. As a five-trait stack, this technology is designed to provide resistance to glyphosate, glufosinate, dicamba, 2,4-D, and mesotrione.

Your responses will help identify potential concerns, anticipated use patterns, and stewardship needs across the agricultural industry. All responses will remain confidential and will be analyzed and reported in aggregate form only. No individual respondent will be identified. Thank you for your time and participation in this survey; your feedback is extremely valuable.
This survey is part of Alice Lazzari (@aalicelazzari)’s M.S. research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison under the guidance of Extension Cropping Systems Weed Scientist Dr. Rodrigo Werle and should take approximately 5 minutes to complete. Your participation is voluntary and truly appreciated. We sincerely appreciate your time and willingness to contribute to this important research project.
*Disclaimer: Not all treatments included in this survey have been registered with the US EPA and applicable states. See final EPA-approved labeling for application rates, timings, and other important information.
